China has made the Earth greener, but it's causing great concern for India

Indeed, both NASA and the journal Nature have praised China's ecosystem greening efforts. Research data shows that since the early 2000s, global greening has increased by 5%, roughly equivalent to the size of the Amazon rainforest. Of this, 25% is attributed to China and 5% to India.

However, while China's contribution to making the Earth greener is substantial and tangible, India's efforts, although contributing, are qualitatively different from China's. Therefore, India's greening efforts are a cause for significant concern. Why is this so?

Because in this data, while India contributes 5% of greening to the globe—contributing to the Earth, a significant portion, over 82%, comes from expanded agricultural cultivation.

After the extensive expansion of agriculture, the increased demand for water by crops can lead to overexploitation of groundwater or soil degradation. Eventually, when these areas become unsuitable for cultivation, they are abandoned.

Moreover, India's population is still expanding, and in April 2023, the UN's World Population statistics show that India's population is over 1.428 billion, slightly higher than China's 1.425 billion.

This shows that the demand for agriculture will continue to expand, but as long as a "new bottleneck" is reached, India will continue to expand after the large-scale population growth, after the expansion of agricultural demand, such changes will continue to expand, and more desertification land will be changed by agriculture in the future, so India's future afforestation will not only be difficult to increase, but also may increase desertification. In the end, the green area is not increasing, but decreasing, and this is what is very worrying about India. Therefore, the sincere or look at China, there are changes in other countries, but they are not large, China's power can be said to support the green development of the whole earth.
